Living in a 1600 sq. ft. house has really challenged us to get creative to make best use of the space as a whole. We want every inch of our home to be functional, and we also think about resale value down the road. We recently made the decision to turn a small storage closet into an office, and we are THRILLED with how it turned out! We didn’t have a dedicated workspace before, and now we do. It really turned out better than we expected and I just know this space will really get it’s use.

Today I will share what we did with the space to turn it into an office!

Cloffice Before/After:

First, we ended up building one big shelf in the office that serves as the “desk” space. We didn’t want to risk buying a desk and it not fitting, so it made the most sense to place a floating style desk in the space. It’s perfect!

Next, I used a wallpaper with a white background to brighten up the closet space! I chose the Aya Print from NuWallpaper. It took us about 1.5 rolls of wallpaper to cover this space. I LOVE this print. It’s very calming, whimsical, and relaxing. Perfect for a workspace.

The one thing that really made the space POP is the hanging pendant. I chose just a glass pendant that plugs into the wall. Glass Pendant It came with hooks to use for the ceiling and it also has a built in dimmer switch which is so nice to change the setting of the light depending on what time of day it is.

This was one of those fairly inexpensive DIY projects that made a HUGE impact in our home. An underused closet now serves as a very purposeful space.
