Healthy Baked Sweet Potato Chips
Hi Friends! I hope you all are having an awesome week. I’m ready for the weekend for sure! Just a few more days! Today I want to share with you my healthy baked sweet potato chips recipe. This is a great alternative to regular bagged chips, and these are super easy to make. They are great simply as a snack, or as a side for lunch or dinner!
The biggest obstacle I’ve found with baked sweet potato chips is getting them to cook evenly and crispy before they burn. So here are a few tips for baking preparation:
Slice the potato pieces as thinly and uniformly as possible. You’ll want the pieces to be mostly the same size so they will cook at the same time duration. Around 1/8 inch slices are ideal.
Soak the potato slices in water for about 30 minutes after cutting.
Make sure they are completely dry before coating with oil and spices.
Simple ingredients list:
Sweet Potatoes
Olive Oil
Spices of choice I like to use Salt, Pepper, Rosemary, and Thyme.
Directions:
Preheat oven to 225 degrees and line baking sheet with tinfoil (spray lightly with non-stick spray).
Wash sweet potatoes and peel if you prefer. I do not peel the skin off of mine.
Slice Sweet Potatoes as thinly as you can- about 1/8 inch. Try your best to make them all close to the same size as possible. They will cook better this way.
Toss sweet potato slices in 1-2 tbsp of olive oil (gauge amount on how many potatoes you used). You want them all to be just lightly coated. I would recommend starting with only a tiny bit of oil and adding as needed.
Add in spices of choice and toss around to coat all of the pieces evenly.
Lay potato slices in a single layer on the baking sheet.
Bake for 1 to 1½ hours, until the chips are crispy, rotating halfway through. Allow the chips to rest for 5 minutes before eating.
