Our Morning Routine

I’ve gotten so many questions the past few weeks about our morning routine around here, so I’m going to break it down for you! Our morning routine is pretty set in it’s ways Monday-Friday. I thrive off of a routine. I always have. So keeping somewhat of the normalcy throughout the week is how I work best. I think most of us are this way, even if we don’t think we are. If you don’t have a normal routine, try one out for a few weeks and see how it makes you feel! The past few weeks have been a little crazy with the temporary “new normal”, but the only thing that’s changed for us mainly is that the gym is closed.

5am-6am Wake up. The earlier on that scale the better, because it gives me more "“me time”. The very first thing I do in the morning is turn on the coffee pot. I stand there (impatiently) until it’s brewed just enough for me to pour a warm cup of coffee into my Yeti mug or my new glass coffee mugs and sit down on the couch. I turn on the TV usually to the news so I can keep up with what’s going on. If I’m in a mood that I need something more uplifting, I will turn on Fixer Upper(surprise surprise LOL) or another one of my favorite shows.

The first hour or two of wake up time is catching up on work related stuff, Instagram comments/engagement with you guys, checking emails, and working on my blog. I try to play catch up from the day before as much as possible before Elizabeth wakes up.

7:15am-7:45am Elizabeth wakes up. After she wakes up I turn on a little show for her. She likes Puppy Dog Pals and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Really anything on Disney Junior- she’s a fan. While she’s watching her show, I make us a quick breakfast(granola bar, yogurt, boiled eggs), grab another cup of coffee, make the bed, and get changed into my gym clothes. Lately since the gym has been closed, we have been using our normal gym time for a morning walk together.

8:30am-9:30/10am- Gym/Walk.

9:30am/10am- Noon- When we get home from the gym or from our walk, she will have another snack and play with her toys, and I will tidy up around the house, make another cup of coffee, shower, and then dive into full force work. I try to schedule block my day as much as possible to get as much done in time increments as I can. If you’re not familiar with schedule blocking it’s where you plan blocks of time to get certain tasks completed. For example, between 10:30-11 I will only check and reply to emails. Between 11-12, I will work on assigned projects, etc. etc.

Noon-After a few hours of work, I make us lunch and take a little break. After lunch is when things get a little messy around here and less structured LOL. I usually have afternoon work calls. I work on playing catch up on things, tidying up around the house, the list goes on. Our afternoons can sometimes turn into a juggling mess where the mornings are much more routined.

Honestly guys, I am just doing the best that I can, just like we all are! Having a morning routine truly does help me conquer the day though. If you don’t have a morning routine for yourself, I encourage you to give one a try! I hope it will bring a sense of calm and stress relief to your day like it does mine.
