What we are doing while “staying home”
Hi Friends! I know so many of us are practicing social distancing and trying to stay sane and happy while being stuck with no where to go, so I just wanted to talk to you guys about what we’re personally doing while staying home to keep from going completely crazy. (LOL)
Spending time outdoors. We are trying to get outside and enjoy the sunshine as much as possible. Elizabeth and I have been going on a morning walk together, and then I have been going on a run by myself when Justin gets home from work. It’s really been so nice to “slow down” and enjoy our mornings a little bit, and the evening runs have really helped me to decompress from the day and get a little bit of alone time.
I also bought Elizabeth a little blow up pool, so I have literally been popping a lawn chair in the driveway and working from my laptop while she splashes in her pool. To be honest, it’s been the HAPPIEST most JOYFUL time. I love it so much.
Keeping the house tidy. Each morning I do a quick tidy of the house. Make my bed. Clean up toys. Wipe the kitchen counters down. It takes me about 20 minutes total to tidy up, but it’s so worth it to start our day on the right foot. My stress levels do not do well with clutter, so it’s been really helpful.
Organizing. It is no secret that I love to organize all the things. Taking time to organize and work on little projects has been so nice. Organizing brings such a sense of accomplishment in the end, and really helps with stress levels as well.
Diving head first into a dream. I have literally catapulted myself into this blog head first, and it’s been the scariest, most vulnerable, most challenging, and more work than I would have ever imagined. I’ve treated this like a true “second job” in hopes that one day it can be my full time job. It’s my very own small business and I’ve poured so much into it. Yet at the same time, I have never felt more “me”. I have never had a fire lit underneath me for anything like I do for this. I have never felt so accomplished as I do with this. I have never felt as satisfied with something as I do now.
I am so happy I turned this dream into a reality. I have always had a nagging “what if” in my brain. I’ve learned so much already, and really leaned into what you guys (my community) is asking for. I have had to do little pivots here and there, and I will continue to learn and grow to serve you best, but I am so excited to see where this journey takes us!
And with that, I will leave you with this- Let’s try our best to see the optimist side of this crazy unprecedented event we are in the middle of. Let’s cherish the “extra time” some of us are getting with our kids and loved ones. This is time we will never get back, and we have a choice to make the best of it. Let’s choose to do just that!
Happy Monday! Make it a fantastic week ahead! XOXO
