Our Home Paint Colors

When choosing paint colors for your home, there are many factors to consider; size of the space, natural lighting (windows), functionality, and most importantly your own personal taste.

Deciding on paint colors for our fixer upper was a little bit of a challenge. The space in it’s entirety is around 1,500-1,600 sq ft. I knew I didn’t want drastically different colors in each room- I wanted everything to have a good flow especially since it is a smaller home. We have a lot of natural light that comes in to our living room, and very high vaulted ceilings, so those were two factors working in my favor to broaden my choices a bit. I also knew I didn’t want anything too tan or yellow. I wanted to stick with a light(er) color that leaned more towards grey than tan. I love light and bright homes. They make me feel happy and cheery even on a cloudy day! :)

I ended up narrowing it down to two Sherwin Williams colors- Wordly Gray and Agreeable Gray. Both are beautiful colors, but ultimately we decided that Wordly Gray was too dark, so we went with Agreeable Gray! I absolutely love the color! In our home, it definitely is just a true gray. I say in our home, because I’ve heard varying opinions on this color. I feel like people either love it or hate it. I’m on the love side of the fence. LOL

So, Agreeable Gray is the main paint color throughout our home. The board and batten in the entry way is just a trim white and so is the shiplap in the living room.

The kitchen shiplap, both bathrooms, and our master bedroom are all painted in Cloudy Gray by Magnolia Home. I am OBSESSED with this color! It is very very very light gray, almost white, but just with a hint of color. It is so bright, light, and inviting. I really like the contrast of it against the agreeable gray as well.

I am going to work on the kids rooms soon, so I will keep you updated on whether or not I change the paint color in there (currently agreeable gray) and if I do, I will let you know what I choose.
